SB QST ARL ARLB022 ARLB022 Summer
Section Manager Election Results
The Southern Florida Section and the
Oklahoma Section will have new Section Mangers starting in October, and the
incumbent Section Manager of Ohio was re-elected in the Summer Section
Manager election cycle that concluded on Tuesday, August 24;
election ballots were counted August 24 at ARRL Headquarters. Terms for
new Section Managers will begin on October 1, 2010.
Current ARRL
Southern Florida Section Manager Sherri Brower, W4STB, decided not to run for
re-election, so two new candidates entered the race for that position: David
Fowler, K4DLF, of West Palm Beach, and Mark Timblin, W3LZK, of Vero Beach.
Fowler was declared the victor with 730 votes; Timblin received 153 votes.
Fowler has been serving as an Assistant Section Manger in Southern Florida,
along with his Emergency Coordinator, District Emergency Coordinator
and Public Information Officer appointments.
Incumbent Ohio Section
Manager Frank Piper, KI8GW, of Pickerington, was re-elected to a new full
two-year term of office with 978 votes. His opponent, Thomas Sly, WB8LCD, of
Kent, garnered 887 votes. Piper was appointed by ARRL in July 2009, to
fulfill the term of office left vacant after then-Section Manager Joe
Phillips, K8QOE, passed away.
In Oklahoma, Kevin O'Dell, N0IRW, of
Ardmore, will take over the Section Manager reins from Dean Feken, KL7MA, of
Perry, on October 1. Feken decided not to run for another term of office, and
O'Dell was the only nominee to run for the position. O'Dell has
been serving the ARRL Field Organization in Oklahoma as the
Public Information Coordinator, a Public Information Officer and as
an Official Emergency Station.
The following incumbent ARRL Section
Managers did not face opposition and were declared elected for their next
terms of office beginning October 1: Betsey Doane, K1EIC, Connecticut; Ed
Stuckey, AI7H, Idaho; Skip Jackson, KS0J, Minnesota; Lynn Nelson, N0ND,
North Dakota; Roberto Jimenez, KP4AC, Puerto Rico; John Ellis,
NP2B, Virgin Islands, and Scott Bauer, W2LC, Western New
York. NNNN /EX
